Drawing Day

Morrisson Bridge

I spent the afternoon on Sunday downtown doing some exterior drawings, the Morrisson Bridge you see pictured here was the first.

Drawing in public is interesting, if nothing else for the attention it attracts. I had one guy stop and talk to me a bit while I was working, asking me if I was a design student or something and talking a bit about drawing. A lot of kids stopped to look, and a college student took my picture for her art project.

It was a nice day out. I think this is the longest I've ever spent on the Portland Waterfront, and it was a lot more pleasent than I was expecting. Will have to do it again.

More images from recent days are in my photostream, if you're curious.

That's really nice.

You should sketch the Japanese cherry trees just north of the Burnside bridge.

I see quite a few artists sketching there.

Thanks!

That's not a bad idea. Organic stuff like trees is a whole different kind of challenge, and a good one at that.
